Using Hobart as our base, we set out toward Mt. Field National Park, exploring the picturesque Derwent Valley along the way. Sadly the famous fagus—Australia’s only native deciduous beech—was still green but lots of other trees in the valley had already turned yellow. Combined with sunny clear sky days there were many photo opportunities but as usual not enough time.

I took a few photos of the native eucalyptus trees in front of a wall of backlit yellow trees which I think works the best for this kind of scene and gives an idea of the location.
