Storm in Kuala Lumpur
My first time in Kuala Lumpur was a memorable one. Late July is not wet season but in that part of the world it still rains quite often. It’s also humid and hot most of the day. Not great for walking around with a camera backpack and a tripod, so having a light setup makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.
This image however is taken from the comfort of our apartment. Getting an accomodation with a good view is a very useful trick for photographers. One of the windows was overlooking this pretty incredible tower called Menara Kuala Lumpur. When the storm clouds started to roll in I set up the camera on the tripod. Then I watched the storm. Fresh air coming out of the air conditioner. Comfortably observing the storm and ocassionally triggering the shutter button to capture some of the interesting cloud formations.
One neat trick I used to avoid window reflections was getting a lens hood. They are quite cheap, foldable and very light so it’s a great thing to have when travelling.
